Mulungu Aboriginal Corporation Primary Health Care Service is dedicated to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. As an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organization, we strive to provide comprehensive health services that address the unique needs of our community, promoting holistic well-being through integrated health and social services.

Our Family Participation Program is an essential component of our Social Services Team, focusing on empowering families to actively engage in decisions regarding their children's welfare, particularly those at risk of entering the Child Protection System.


Position Overview


Part Time - 35 Hours / Week (Negotiable)

The Family Participation Facilitator plays a crucial role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families by facilitating family-led decision-making (FLDM) processes. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about social justice and have a strong commitment to enhancing the lives of children and families at risk.

As a facilitator, you will help families identify protective factors, address child protection concerns, and ensure their voices are heard in significant decisions affecting their children. Your work will be grounded in cultural safety and support self-determination while linking families with necessary resources and services.


Candidate Profile


The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, along with the social, economic, and cultural factors affecting these communities.

* Certificate IV in Social and/or Community Services (Child, Youth & Families) or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated experience working with children and families in a community-based role.
* Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999 and the Child Placement Principles.
* Hold a Working with Children Blue Card, current Federal Police Check (within the last six months) or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
* Current "C" class Drivers Licence.

In addition, the candidate should have a strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a commitment to maintaining professional standards within an evidence-based framework. A willingness to undergo a criminal history check and obtain a Working with Children Blue Card is essential.
