Your new role
As a Lawyer in the Legal Team, Professional Conduct Branch, you will play a crucial role in providing high-level legal advice and support for VIT's regulatory functions. Your responsibilities will include providing legal advice to support investigations, managing disciplinary proceedings, and prosecuting offences. You will also be involved in conducting suitability and risk assessments, representing VIT at hearings and court proceedings, and contributing to policy development and business planning. The role requires overseeing work in relation to sensitive matters, which can involve allegations of child sexual abuse.
Key Accountabilities:

2. Conduct suitability and risk assessments
3. Represent VIT at hearings and court proceedings
4. Contribute to policy development and business planning
5. Prepare reports, briefs, and correspondence

What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others and make sound administrative decisions. Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a high degree of emotional intelligence and attention to detail. You must be admitted as an Australian Legal Practitioner with a current Victorian Practising Certificate (or the ability to acquire one) and have experience in providing legal advice, particularly in administrative law.
