There will be exciting projects, exposure to systems and processes and real Council customers and community members to assist.
PEOPLE & CULTURE
A diverse role with tasks relating to Recruitment, Learning & Development, Organisational Development and Health, Safety and Wellbeing. Each day looks different, you might be scheduling interviews, booking meeting rooms, administering online inductions and processing documents one day and working on some unique process improvement projects the next. Attending job expos and managing work experience students are all part of this people focused, innovative traineeship.

BUILDING SERVICES
If you are process driven and have a keen eye for detail, consider our Building Services Traineeship. In this role, you will review building applications and enter critical data into our Council database. You'll attend site inspections with your supervisor and gain the perfect foundation in building enforcement practices. A White Card qualification is also included in the training requirements.

ARTS CULTURE & HERITAGE
Are you passionate about creative marketing, art promotion and event delivery This tailored traineeship will align with your unique skills and interests. As part of the Arts Culture & Heritage Traineeship, you'll have the opportunity to work across various Council Cultural Venues, The Union and Berninneit, Cowes, enhancing your expertise in assisting with exhibitions and events, marketing and business administration. You will gain experience working within a highly creative arts marketing team. This is a hands-on, dynamic opportunity to grow your career in the arts sector.

TOURISM & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
An exciting role that will contribute to our thriving community. If you love local events and connecting with small businesses, this traineeship will be perfect for you. Tasks will include management of social media, liaising with suppliers, arranging catering, setting up and packing down for exciting events (think MotoGP; Shop, Eat, Love Local campaign and the Bass Coast Business Awards night) as well as going out to visit our vibrant local traders.

CUSTOMER & VISITOR EXPERIENCE:
Engage with the community face to face at our Customer Service Centres and over the phone with our passionate Customer & Visitor Experience team. Learn to resolve queries firsthand and connect callers with different teams throughout the organisation. This Traineeship will see you working across all of our Bass Coast Shire Council sites including Wonthaggi, Inverloch, Cowes, Newhaven and Grantville.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & BUSINESS SYSTEMS
Delve deep into the heart of the organisation in this systems-focused Traineeship. Support the IT and Business Systems teams with documenting and tracking systems incidents, assist in creating and reviewing work procedures and play a role in planning and executing system implementation projects. Develop your knowledge of Council's operating systems so that you can troubleshoot issues for our workforce. This is a hands-on role that will see you making strong connections across all departments.

FINANCIAL SERVICES:
New for 2026, this Traineeship offers the opportunity to gain comprehensive experience across purchasing, finance, rates, and contracts. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of administrative tasks and will play a key supporting role in team projects and initiatives.
