Full job description:
We are a small bookkeeping firm looking for new staff to join our forward thinking practice, using technology and cloud based accounting packages. We are located in Pakenham and this position will require you to work with a variety of small businesses. This position is ideally suited to someone who enjoys flexible working conditions and loves a challenge. Approx 15 hours per week (M-F = 3 hrs per day) to start, contract position across various clients; this will grow based on accuracy, enthusiasm and dedication. Hours will vary depending on client needs and quarter deadlines for bookkeeping and BAS compliance.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Strong practical experience in MYOB and Xero; QuickBooks Online is a plus
- Reconciliation of accounting files, including bank reconciliations
- Ability to work from a home office with reliable internet and computer
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Payroll, including leave reconciliations, super, PAYG, payroll tax and WorkCover
- Preparation and lodgement of BAS/IAS
- Preparation of general journal entries
- Strong knowledge in accrual accounting
- Assistance with year-end tax and accounting compliance
- Liaising with external accountants
- Liaising with employees and directors of clients
- Ad hoc bookkeeping tasks as requested by clients
Qualifications and skills:
- Proven practical experience in all aspects of MYOB and Xero and/or QuickBooks Online
- Minimum of 5 years prior bookkeeping experience
- Certificate IV in Accounting and/or Bookkeeping
- Professional, representing the business to a high standard
- High levels of English communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to adapt to various work environments and work independently
- Proactive, quick learner and a thinker, not just a doer
Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour
