Mount Isa Mines is currently seeking suitably qualified applicants for the role of Fitter and Turner/Mechanical Fitter to work in the Surface Workshop team.

The Role
This permanent, fulltime position will require you to work on site in the main workshop within the fitting team. You will be responsible for carrying out rebuilds of wide variety of fixed plant equipment from gearboxes, pumps, Jaw crushers, Cone crushers, conveyor drums to vent Fans in a large workshop environment. This is a residential role in Mount Isa, working a 48-hour week 4/3 or a 56- hour week 5/2 roster.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
o Strip, measure, inspect and report on all components.
o Fitting Bearings and sleeves
o Rebuilding large fixed plant equipment and associated components
o Experience in using hydraulic Nuts desirable
o Correctly interpret and apply engineering drawings, measuring equipment and company documentation
o Complete assigned work and associated paperwork to a high standard with the relevant notes regarding any repairs.
o Ensuring safe work behaviours for yourself and your fellow team members
o Effective time management

You will have the following skillset and attributes:
o Trade qualified with a minimum of 3 years post-trade experience
o Hold a current manual Australian driver’s license.
o Forklift ticket, basic rigger/doggers ticket and gantry crane are preferred.
o Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and fabrication solution.
o Work history in a similar environment fixing large fixed plant equipment associated with Smelters and concentrators
o Exceptional safety standards
o Time management and ability to prioritise competing demands
o Ability to maintain high work standards.
o Ability to problem solve and show a high level of initiative.
o Ability to read and interpret drawings
