About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Protein Category Buyer to manage and grow our protein supply portfolio. This role requires deep product knowledge, strong industry relationships, and proven negotiation skills to ensure the procurement of quality meats at the right price, time, and specification.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

- Source and procure a range of proteins including beef, lamb, pork, poultry, and specialty meats.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with domestic and international suppliers, producers, and processors.
- Use deep product and market knowledge to make informed buying decisions.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and volumes to secure supply and optimise margins.
- Monitor market trends, seasonal variations, and global supply chain shifts.
- Collaborate with sales, production, and logistics teams to ensure supply meets demand and product specs.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and all regulatory and quality standards.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for cost savings, product innovation, and new supplier development.

About you:

- Minimum 32 -5 years e2 e2 a0 experience in meat or protein procurement (wholesale, processing, or foodservice sector).
- Strong product knowledge across key protein categories and understanding of industry grading, specifications, and yield.
- Proven negotiation skills with a commercial mindset.
- Existing industry networks and supplier contacts highly regarded.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, time management, and relationship-building abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety, compliance, and quality standards.
