Legal Counsel - Project / Infrastructure - Renewable Energy 3-6 PQE
Our client is a key player in Australia’s energy transition, partnering with governments on critical infrastructure programs to deliver a net-zero energy system. As coal plants retire, they support the coordination of investment in transmission, generation, storage and firming of energy infrastructure.

Position Description
As a Legal Counsel within this industry leading Legal Team, you will play a vital role in supporting Australia’s energy transition. Collaborating closely with senior lawyers, leadership, and external stakeholders in government and industry, you will deliver high-quality legal advice on complex, high-impact energy projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape cross-jurisdictional energy policy, tackle novel legal challenges, and develop your skills in a cooperative and inclusive culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Completing legal due diligence, compliance reviews, and contract finalisation
- Advising electricity derivatives and development agreements
- Preparing tender-related documents and advising on tender products
- Providing legal advice on issues affecting the organisation
- Reviewing and advising on contracts and external publications
- Maintaining internal Legal Team knowledge and precedent resources
- Supporting corporate compliance, governance, and company secretarial functions
- Representing the organisation with external stakeholders
- Advising other divisions (Commercial, System Planning, Financial Markets, Risk, Compliance and Audit, Business Operations, Corporate Affairs & Social Value) on legal matters
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- 3-6 years PQE from an established projects team
- Exposure to electricity project matters or energy laws and rules is highly desirable but is not a requirement
