Mechanical Engineer with marine and structural experience.
The Role:
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team, working across all facets of Naval Architecture and vessel design. This position will play a key role in supporting newbuild projects, from concept through delivery, ensuring technical excellence and smooth project execution.
This position is located on the Gold Coast.
Responsibilities will include:
* Contribute to structural and systems design across a variety of vessel types.
* Develop and review engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications.
* Support project administration and documentation, ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements.
* Coordinate with overseas shipyards and suppliers throughout the newbuild process.
* Specify and technically evaluate engineering equipment for procurement, providing input to purchasing decisions and supplier selection.
* Assist with project management activities, including scheduling, progress reporting, and stakeholder communication.
* Provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
* Support on 2D/3D design, including modelling, drafting and design documentation.
About You:
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in engineering roles.
* Interest or experience in the marine and shipbuilding industry.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with international partners.
* Willingness to travel for project requirements.
* Experienced in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
* Experience managing engineering projects and using tools such as: Jira, MS Project, Trello.
* Knowledge of design tools: Autocad, Rhino.
