Selection Criteria 1. Experience in catering and food service management, including: a. A demonstrated capacity to plan, prepare and oversee the delivery of nutritious, balanced meals to students and staff b. Experience in managing budgets; ordering supplies, maximising value and nutrition whilst minimising waste c. A demonstrated ability to manage a cohesive team and build the capacity and skills of others Role Assist with the preparation of the annual catering budget and manage the ongoing budget throughout the year Identify and engage suppliers who meet the specifications of the school sustainable purchasing policy and practices where possible. Menu planning using nutritional standards, in consultation with teaching staff. Preparation, cooking and serving of meals as per the numbers required, taking into account dietary needs, cultural background etc Communicate and provide routine support to teachers on matters of catering to support student and program needs Address behaviour issues relating to specific students in the catering area e.g. potential student safety issues To keep all food preparation, serving and eating areas in full compliance with current health regulations and legal hygiene standards. The Catering Manager shall meet all requirements of the Victorian Food Hygiene Strategy and amendments to the Food Act. Removal of all waste and packaging from the kitchen, at the end of each meal to containers provided by the Blackwood Special Schools Outdoor Education Centre. The Catering Manager shall comply with local site requirements that exist for composting and for recycling plastic, glass, aluminium and paper-based products. The on-site management of the Catering Assistant, this will include the designation of duties and coordination of daily tasks. To continue to develop knowledge and skills in existing methods of food management in a commercial kitchen environment. Based on an enrolment of 46 students, Blackwood is managed through its own SRP and is an outdoor residential school that challenges growth and development in students with disabilities enrolled within the Victoria¿s Special School Network. Through the facilities onsite and the connection with all Victorian Special Schools, Blackwood can implement up to 3 residential programs for 3 different special schools weekly throughout each academic year for students from 5 ¿ 18 with varying needs and abilities. Blackwood¿s facilities are located across two sites, 400m apart, with the main site set in an undulating forest environment approximately 26 acres in size and includes a 1 X 22 bed bunk house (which is also our shelter in place), 1 X Tent Shelter Accommodation Site, 2 X classrooms, a Mod 5 Office, with an accessible high ropes course, accessible 7¿m high climbing tower, accessible archery classroom, fenced yabby dam, playground, bouldering hut, lesson sites, maintenance facilities and a communal dining room. The smaller property is a residential block which includes 1 X 24 bed bunk house, mountain bike riding shed, observatory, playground and facilities shed. Students accessing the Blackwood facilities engage in our unique curriculum.
