About The Opportunity
Join the Consultation Liaison or CL Psychiatry Service at Manning Base Hospital, providing in-reach support across all hospital wards. This is a diverse and highly rewarding role, offering exposure to a wide range of clinical presentations including trauma recovery, psychiatric conditions linked to medical illness, somatoform disorders, delirium, dementia, and emergency presentations such as suicide attempts. You will also support staff with clinical advice around consent, anxiety management, and complex care, while providing education and support to patients and their families. This is a full-time opportunity, with job share or part-time arrangements considered. You'll be part of a team known for its strong, collaborative culture, commitment to high-quality care, and consistent support for both clinicians and referrers.
What You Will Be Doing
In this role, you will provide comprehensive mental health triage, assessment, and safety planning for patients with co‐morbid medical and psychiatric conditions.
You Will
* Deliver mental health assessments and interventions across a general hospital setting
* Work both autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
* Build strong relationships with medical, surgical, and allied health teams
* Support staff managing complex and emotionally demanding clinical situations
* Contribute to patient‐centred care for individuals with diverse presentations
As a standalone CL clinician, you will also connect with the Greater Newcastle CL service through virtual meetings, safety huddles, morbidity and mortality meetings, clinical reviews, and journal clubs—ensuring ongoing connection, support, and professional development.
