The role

ASIS relies on innovative and secure ICT solutions to achieve its national security mission. ICT Product Management is central to this effort, leading the strategy, planning, and delivery of ICT products from initial concept to retirement.

The IT Delivery role translates user needs and strategic goals into tangible technology solutions, working closely with technical teams to ensure ASIS has the tools it needs to succeed. Ultimately, the role defines, delivers, and manages products that meet ASIS's operational requirements, security standards, and contribute directly to enhanced intelligence capabilities.

The key duties of the position include:

Role responsibilities

Product Vision and Strategy

· Set clear vision for each product and ensure alignment with ASIS goals. This includes developing and maintaining a strategic roadmap that outlines the product's evolution, prioritising features based on business needs, user feedback, and emerging technologies. The roadmap serves as a guiding document for stakeholders and delivery teams.

Stakeholder Engagement

· Act as a primary liaison between technical teams, business units, and end-users. Work with Business Analysts to gather and analyse requirements, ensuring the product addresses real user needs and organisational priorities. Through structured engagement, resolve conflicting requirements and prioritise features using data-driven approaches. Provide escalation and communication avenues between business and ICT teams for product incidents, problem investigation and resolution. Chair user groups and manage product change, including business negotiation and clearance for change activities and outages.

Coordination

· Collaboration across ICT functions is critical. ICT Product Management requires working closely with development teams for timely feature delivery, operations teams for smooth deployments, and support teams for maintaining service quality post-release. Management of dependencies, risk and ensure clear communication of release plans.

Market Trends

· Staying informed about industry trends and emerging technologies is essential. Conduct market research, benchmark against similar products and analyse user feedback to identify gaps and opportunities. These insights inform strategic decisions about product enhancements and innovations.

Compliance

· Accurate and up-to-date documentation is a key responsibility. ICT Product Management ensures all product-related documents - such as specifications, roadmaps, and operational guides - are maintained and accessible. Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, regulatory requirements and security standards throughout the product lifecycle.

Core skills

The IT Delivery role would generally be required to undertake work that is very complex or sensitive and operate under broad direction. They will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role, and will need to exercise sound decision making and judgement to produce high level policy advice. They will engage in complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and undertake detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for the agency. This role will also be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships within and outside the agency and may manage one or more work teams.

Education and qualification

The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:

• Experience in product lifecycle management.

• Certifications such as ITIL, Agile Product Management, Project Management and/ or SFIA-based frameworks.

• Familiarity with ICT transformation initiatives

Eligibility

To be eligible for a role you must:

· Be an Australian citizen

· Be assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a TOP SECRET-Privileged Access security clearance
