Silentium Defence is pioneering passive radar and advanced sensing technology for Defence, national security, and space awareness. As we continue to grow our engineering capability, we are expanding our Applications & Services team — the internal software layer that powers our operations.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a Software Engineer with around 5 years of industry experience to build and improve the applications, integrations, and platform services that support production, research, field trials, and day-to-day engineering operations.
You'll work across NodeJS, Python, JavaScript, and Linux-based environments to deliver reliable internal tools, APIs, and automation workflows — enabling teams across Silentium to move faster and with confidence.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world problems, collaborating across disciplines, and building well-engineered solutions that have direct operational impact.
What You'll Do
* Develop internal applications, APIs, automation tools, and integrations
* Build and maintain NodeJS, Python, and Linux-based services
* Improve software quality through testing, documentation, code reviews, and observability
* Work closely with Radar, Research, Production, and Field Trial teams to understand user needs
* Contribute to technical decisions, architecture discussions, and delivery planning
* Help improve tooling, workflows, and internal engineering efficiency
* Troubleshoot and support internal systems to ensure reliability and uptime

* Improve internal systems and reduce support burden through better tooling and automation
• Collaborate effectively with engineers, scientists, and operations teams
* Communicate clearly, document appropriately, and close out work reliably

About You
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or other relevant industry
* 5 years of experience as a software engineer
* Proficiency with NodeJS, JavaScript, Python and/or C++
* Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line tooling
* Experience with APIs, integrations, or data-driven services
* Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with ambiguity
* Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* A mindset focused on reliability, maintainability, and continuous improvement
