Botanical Resources Australia (BRA) is a global leader in the production of natural pyrethrum. BRA is a uniquely Tasmanian brand built on decades of scientific advancement, product quality, and sustainable manufacturing practices. As BRA continues to expand its research capabilities, an opportunity has arisen for a Research Chemist as part of the Quality & Science department. This department develops projects and processes which directly impact manufacturing efficiency and product quality, and drive future innovation. You'll be joining a highly collaborative scientific team that values curiosity, integrity, and the pursuit of continuous improvement.
Your new role
As a Research Chemist, you'll play a key role in designing and executing laboratory-based research that enhances BRA's understanding of pyrethrum chemistry and strengthens production. You will conduct experiments across a range of sample types, manage complex datasets, and interpret analytical results to inform business decisions.
You'll be working hands-on with analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC and LC/GC-MS/MS. You will operate within accredited safety and quality systems while contributing to the development of research methods, data acquisition tools, and documentation standards.
Your work will be both visible and valued, directly influencing continuous improvement initiatives and helping drive meaningful change and process optimisation across the organisation.
What you'll need to succeed
You'll bring a strong foundation in chemistry, supported by at least three years' experience in a laboratory environment and demonstrated capability in conducting scientific research. A tertiary qualification in Chemistry is essential, ideally with an
Honours or Masters research project under your belt. Your ability to question, problem solve, and communicate complex information clearly is paramount to your success. Experience and confidence with analytical equipment, statistical interpretation, and preparing high-quality and accessible scientific reports is essential.
