Normet is currently seeking an experienced Auto Electrician Leading Hand to join our supportive and friendly team in our branch in Midvale. As Leading Hand – Electrical, you will play a vital role supervising electrical staff and operations within the workshop, ensuring the highest quality and managing and implementing all modification and manufacturing tasks of Normet's underground machines.

About you
Minimum of 5 years of industry experience, Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology along with 3+ years' experience in a leadership role.
Proven, in‑depth electrical knowledge and experience.
Ability to read CAD engineering drawings (electrical schematics).
Ability to read engineering drawings (hydraulics/pneumatics).
Problem‑solving and diagnostics skills.
Experience in modification and repairs of heavy equipment.
Experience with ERP Systems is desirable.
Sound understanding of and commitment to quality control systems, safety and environmental awareness, protection and their impacts on manufacturing business and processes.
You will have full working rights in Australia; please note visa sponsorship is not on offer at this time.
You will have the ability to successfully complete a pre‑employment medical and obtain a National Police Clearance.
Key responsibilities
The role supports scheduling and monitoring workshop activities, delegating tasks for efficiency, and carrying out manufacturing and repair work to customer specifications. It involves supporting the Workshop Manager to improve workshop procedures, advising on best‑practice methods, assisting with customer complaint resolution, and monitoring overall workshop performance.
The position also liaises with warehouse staff to manage inspections of parts for both used and new build programs, collaborates with other departments to meet customer expectations, maintains employee data and rosters in Time Target, updates QAQC records, and upholds high standards of safety, documentation, quality, and equipment uptime. As Leading Hand – Electrical, you will also support the Workshop Manager in delivering high‑quality training and staff education to ensure full compliance with Normet Safety Standards.
