We currently have a vacancy for a permanent full-time shift relief Batch & Furnace Operator to join our manufacturing team at the Adelaide Plant based in West Croydon. As a shift relief, you will be required to work both a day shift roster and a 3-on 2-off 7 day rotating night-afternoon-day shift roster as needed to cover leave within the Batch & Furnace department.
You will initially start on day shift learning the fundamentals of the role before being integrated into the rotating shift roster. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Operation of forklift, front end loader and tipper truck, loading and offloading raw materials, ensuring batches of raw materials and recycled glass are to a required standard;
- Performing quality checks, such as Cord Analysis, Stone Identification, density, Seed and Blister counts to ensure our clients receive the highest quality glassware;
- Monitoring production, control of furnace parameters such as but not limited to temperature, pressure, and glass level;
- Monitoring computer alarms essential to the quality operation of the plant and production systems;
- Identifying and reporting the maintenance needs of equipment;
- Assisting with mechanical maintenance and equipment calibrations;
- Preparing written and computerised operational records as required;
- Providing relief for Shift Operators as required.
What you will bring to the team:
You will ideally hold extensive experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment, being able to demonstrate a very solid mechanical aptitude. Experience with Batch and Furnace operations is advantageous with current front end loader, heavy rigid (HR) and forklift licenses highly desirable. Whilst not essential, workers with a trade background will be looked on favourably.
You are fit to perform a range of physical tasks, including standing, walking and lifting – all in a safe and considered manner. You’re a good communicator and have the ability to work well under pressure.
You’ll be able to work independently and use your initiative to get things done, at the same time, enjoy working as part of a team. No job is too small, you will be able to adapt to changes in work loads and keen to learn new skills, processes and procedures.
