The Work
We are seeking a skilled
Middleware Administrator
with hands-on experience in IBM MQ, Oracle WebSphere, and middleware technologies. This role involves supporting and optimizing enterprise middleware platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across environments.
Responsibilities
Administer and support IBM MQ and Oracle WebSphere environments across development, test, and production.
Monitor middleware systems for health, performance, and availability.
Deploy and configure middleware components, including queue managers, channels, and application servers.
Manage backup, recovery, and failover procedures for middleware systems.
Perform patching, upgrades, and security hardening of middleware platforms.
Troubleshoot and resolve middleware-related incidents and service requests.
Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support integration and deployment activities.
Maintain operational documentation including System Understanding Documents (SUDs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Ensure middleware readiness in alignment with project timelines and SLAs.
Participate in on-call support and incident response rotations.
Contribute to automation of middleware deployment and monitoring using scripting tools (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python).
Align middleware operations with DevOps and Agile practices.
Identify and implement improvements to increase system efficiency and reduce manual effort.
What is Required
Hands-on experience in IBM MQ and Oracle WebSphere administration.
Experience with middleware integration, configuration, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with Oracle Fusion Middleware is a plus.
Proficiency in Linux and Windows environments.
Working knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
Understanding of networking concepts, SSL/TLS, and security protocols.
Exposure to ITIL or ITSM frameworks; ITIL v4 certification is advantageous.

Security Clearance Requirement:
Given the secure nature of this role, we are seeking candidates who are Australian Citizens with an active security clearance.
On-call and Shift Expectations:
Our positions are primarily focused on managed services, meaning you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our clients' IT systems. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as you may be required to work in shifts to provide continuous support. You may also need to be on call to address incidents promptly and perform after-hours deployment activities as needed.
