Ausecology, an Australian-owned organisation and part of the Niche Group, is looking for a passionate Environmental Field Officer Team Lead with the passion, physical capability and skills to coordinate and motivate our teams on weed management and ecological restoration activities. This is a field-based, physically demanding role where you will be required to undertake and oversee weed control work at Wyaralong Dam.

About the Role
With an immediate start available, this role is a fixed-term casual position until the end of 2025, with the potential for extension, based at Wyaralong Dam and surrounds. There may be opportunities to participate in projects further afield in South East and Central Queensland on one of our many offset sites which will require working away from home; accommodation and food will be provided at our expense.

Role and Key Responsibilities
- Execution of environmental projects, lead a small team of up to 3 staff
- Ensure onsite plant and equipment are maintained and stored correctly
- Adhere to Ausecology's Mobile Management System
- Participate in all HSEQ audits and contribute to continuous improvement of the Mobile Management System
- Provide feedback or suggestions for improvements
- Execute fieldwork in line with quality assurance and safety procedures
- Complete and submit all HSE and project forms as required
- Participate in all training requirements
Skills and Experience
- ACDC Licence
- Minimum 3 years of in-field bush regeneration, natural area technician, or land conservation experience
- Demonstrate Team Lead experience (minimum 1 year)
- Demonstrate Leading Weed Control Projects
- Plant identification skills – native and exotic across a range of ecosystem types
- Current manual driver's licence
- 4WD and trailer experience
- Physical capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain, carrying equipment up to 20kg
- Current certifications required at start date: ACDC Licence, Manual Driver's Licence
Highly Regarded
- Qualification in Conservation and Land/Ecosystem Management (Natural Area Restoration) or similar, or practical in-field experience / Ecological burn experience
- First Aid & CPR certificate
- Tool and small engine maintenance
- Remote area (rural) work experience favoured
- Chainsaw cross-cutting and felling
