Base salary
Level A Step 6–8: $113,400 – $121,054 p.a. + 17 % superannuation.
About the opportunity
We are one of the largest mathematical sciences schools in Australia, and the University of Sydney is the only Australian university to have received the highest rating of 5 out of 5 for research in the mathematical sciences in every Australian Research Council Excellence in Research for Australia assessment to date. We host the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute (SMRI), which attracts leading mathematical scientists from around the world to do research with Australian collaborators.
We are seeking to appoint two (2)
SMRI Postdoctoral Research Associates
. Successful candidates will work under the supervision of a faculty member at either SMRI or the School of Mathematics and Statistics. The successful applicant will undertake research in mathematics at the highest level and will support the research and outreach activities at SMRI.
Key responsibilities
Demonstrate research excellence in mathematics.
Develop research collaborations.
Assist with grant writing and publishing original work.
Develop your profile and the profile of SMRI through conferences and seminars.
Assist with the organisation and delivery of conferences, summer schools or outreach activities at SMRI.
About you

A PhD (or near completion) in mathematics or statistics.
Primary research interests in a research area in the mathematical sciences.
Proven research excellence in this area.
Demonstrated evidence of independent research ability and potential.
Experience in research record keeping, preparation of research papers and presentation of seminars.
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills, interacting with a variety of researchers and stakeholders.
