A government agency in Current South Wales is currently looking for a Senior Economist in their Analytics, Data and Actuarial Division. This is a 12 month contract role with high potential of contract extension. This Division is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic and tactical plan for market stewardship.
The Economic and Insights team examines a range of cross-cutting economic issues within the agency using economic frameworks, research and modelling tools. This role is accountable under broad direction to undertake very complex work that delivers quality outcomes across the Economic functions within the agency.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Leading and conducting the development of partial equilibrium modelling, economic analysis, and the setting and management of market interventions, including price controls.
- Providing quantitative evidence to support the development and implementation of the market and pricing strategies including interventions, monitoring and stewardship.
- Leading the development of the partial economic modelling framework.
- Providing project management oversight for the development of key projects, mainly economic model development.
**To be considered for the role**
- Atleast undergraduate qualifications in Economics, Econometrics or Finance.
- Atleast 3 years of applied economic policy experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SAS, R, STATA, or SPSS
- Located in ACT, NSW, or VIC
