Library Manager Job Description

The Library Manager plays a pivotal role in creating and maintaining a dynamic library environment that supports student learning, curriculum needs, and the broader educational goals of the school.

* Overall responsibility for library operations, including collection management, circulation, and programming services.
* Strategic management of resources, encompassing budget planning, procurement, and inventory control measures.
* Promoting literacy and encouraging students to utilize the library as a valuable resource for learning.
* Providing support for teaching and learning by collaborating with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
* Student supervision as required.


Key Responsibilities:


Operations Management

Manage the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring efficient delivery of services to meet the needs of students and staff.

Develop and implement strategies for improving library services, collection development, and program offerings.


Resource Management

Oversee the management of resources, including budget planning, procurement, and inventory control.

Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of resources.


Leadership and Collaboration

Lead and manage a team of library staff, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.

Collaborate with teachers and other stakeholders to develop and implement instructional programs that align with the school's curriculum.


Requirements:


Essential Skills and Qualifications

* Well-developed knowledge and skills in library management, including experience in collection management, circulation, and programming services.
* Excellent organizational, budgeting, and leadership skills, including experience in delivering high-quality library services.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to lead and manage staff and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and growth.


Desirable Skills and Qualifications

* Experience working in a school library or similar educational setting.
* Knowledge of current trends and best practices in library management.
* Ability to plan and deliver training programs for library staff and teachers.
