ICT/Network Engineer

As part of the collaborative Capability Delivery & Sustainment (CD&S) engineering team, deliver high quality and high reliability integrated communications system solutions within a Systems Engineering framework to meet project requirements.
The role has an ICT/networking focus but can cover various aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, production, integration, verification and validation and sustainment.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide support and management for ICT networks and communication systems.
• Solicit, define, capture, and manage network and communication system requirements.
• Develop and design network and communication systems in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards.
• Develop and document engineering design artefacts (including design documents, drawings, plans, user manuals and training materials).
• Configure, integrate, set to work, and test ICT networks, communications and voice switching systems.
• Install, deliver, and commission communication systems.
• Verify and validate communication systems to project requirements and specifications.
• Provide in-service support of previously delivered systems.
• Provide technical contributions as required to peers and engineering team members for assigned relevant domain or area of competence.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information Technology discipline.
• Solid experience in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Communications Systems Engineering or similar role.
• Strong understanding and experience with networking technologies, including TCP/IP, routing and switching, Wireless, and VoIP.
• Strong understanding of server administration, including installation, configuration, maintenance, security and troubleshooting.
• Experience with the full lifecycle of virtual machines – creation, configuration, deployment, and monitoring. Ability to design and implement virtual infrastructure solutions.
• Knowledge of Active Directory infrastructure, including user and group management, GPOs and troubleshooting.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, RHCSA) would be highly regarded.
• Understanding of IT security principles including Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
• An understanding and experience in system engineering preferably in a communications environment would be highly regarded.
• An understanding and experience of products in radio communications and voice switching systems would be highly regarded.
