The Team
Occupational Therapy Services at Hospitals North West provide high-quality client‐centred occupational therapy to inpatients, outpatients and community clients across the North West region of Tasmania.
The team works as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, supporting consumers across medical, surgical, rehabilitation and orthopaedic services, as well as paediatrics and community‐based programs. As part of the Department of Health, the service is committed to delivering safe, inclusive and evidence‐based care to improve outcomes for individuals, families and the broader Tasmanian community.
The Role
This role is suitable for a new graduate or an experienced Occupational Therapist, offering a supported development programme within Occupational Therapy Services. The successful candidate will rotate across a range of service areas, building clinical capability through a diverse caseload and a strong community focus.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for inpatients, outpatients and community clients across a rotating caseload
* Work collaboratively with senior occupational therapists and multidisciplinary team members to achieve positive client outcomes
* Participate in professional development, quality improvement initiatives and service planning activities in line with departmental priorities
Qualifications and Skills
* Commitment to delivering person‐centred, safe and culturally responsive care
* Demonstrated knowledge of, or a strong foundation in, contemporary Occupational Therapy theory and the ability to apply this in hospital, outpatient and community settings
* Well‐developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Eligibility Criteria
* Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia
* Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
* Current Working with Children Registration
* Desirable: Current Driver's Licence, Post‐graduate qualifications relevant to the delivery of Occupational Therapy Services
Employment Details
Permanent, part‐time, day‐worker position, working 53.2 hours per fortnight, commencing ASAP. Hours are negotiable and additional hours may be available on a fixed‐term basis depending on service needs.
Salary
$73,834 to $111,364 per annum (Pro rata). Provisions for salary packaging and allowances are available as described in the attached Statement of Duties.
