Our client is a specialist chemical manufacturing company operating in a highly regulated environment. They produce and handle dangerous goods and hazardous materials while maintaining strict compliance with regulatory standards.
Job Summary
Lead Production Operations and Team Management to drive safety, innovation, and continuous improvement in our specialized chemical manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee daily manufacturing activities, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with safety regulations.
* Supervise and mentor production staff, fostering a high-performance and safety-focused culture.
* Ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal of dangerous goods in line with regulatory requirements.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and maintain ISO compliance.
* Implement and enforce OHS&E policies, conduct risk assessments, and ensure regulatory adherence.
Requirements:
* Minimum 5-7 years in a production management role within chemical manufacturing or similar industries.
* Demonstrated experience handling dangerous goods and hazardous materials in a regulated environment.
Leadership & People Management:
* Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team, including supervisors, operators, and technicians.
* Strong skills in coaching, training, and performance management, fostering a high-performance culture focused on safety and productivity.
Safety & Compliance:
* In-depth knowledge of OHS&E regulations and experience implementing safety protocols for handling hazardous substances.
* Ability to conduct risk assessments, manage safety audits, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 19001:2015 standards.
Process & Quality Improvement:
* Experience in optimising production processes, improving operational efficiency, and maintaining product quality standards.
* Ability to identify non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions while ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g., EPA, Trade Waste).
Technical Expertise:
* Familiarity with inventory management software and proficiency in data analysis to drive improvements.
* Chemical safety certifications and knowledge of manufacturing systems are highly desirable.
Communication & Stakeholder Management:
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and external contractors.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
* Certification in Dangerous Goods Handling and Chemical Safety.
* Additonal qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) or Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) would be an advantage.
