Primary objective
Responsible for providing high level strategic policy and legislation related advice to executive management, Government
and the community.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level strategic advice to executive management and government on strategic policy and legislationand
related issues.
2. Lead and manage the development, implementation and evaluation of complex logistics and infrastructure related
projects particularly in relation to policy and legislation.
1. Develop complex submissions, reports and ministerial correspondence on major logistics and infrastructure related
policies and strategies, including through research and analysis of national and international logistics and infrastructure
issues and processes.
1. Develop effective collaborative partnerships with stakeholders at the local and national levels to ensure efficient and
effective forward planning and management of key transport issues and projects.
1. Represent the Department and the Northern Territory on inter-departmental, inter-governmental, industry and
stakeholder working groups and committees.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound experience in providing strategic policy advice and in developing and implementing major policies, projects and
strategies.
2. Sound experience in leading, managing, implementing and evaluating complex projects and working within institutional
frameworks to achieve organisational objectives.
1. High level written communication skills including experience in preparing complex strategies, reports, submissions and
ministerial and cabinet papers.
4. High level interpersonal communication and negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to be able to build and maintain
effective networks and facilitating discussions with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
5. Experience in representing an organisation on high level working groups and committees with demonstrated political,
social, community and organisational awareness and sensitivity.
6. Excellent organisational skills including self-motivation and initiative.
Desirable
1. A relevant tertiary qualification.
2. Knowledge of government processes and requirements.
3. A sound knowledge of national and Northern Territory logistics and infrastructure issues and implications for the
Northern Territory.
