IT Operations Manager (Hands‑on)

We're seeking a hands‑on IT Operations Manager to support and uplift a well-run IT landscape (no major P1 incidents in recent months), then lead the build‑out of the function as the organisation scales. Longer term, the plan is for this role to progress into a General Manager position as the current GM steps up. There's no fixed timeline but this is the envisaged pathway.
What you'll do (from day one)
* User administration & access control: Own identity and permissions across core platforms (AAD/M365, servers, apps); enforce least privilege and clean joiners/movers/leavers.
* Security operations: Detect and respond to unauthorised activity; maintain policies and controls; partner on vulnerability remediation.
* BAU stability: Keep networks, servers, and endpoints humming; troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly; maintain change and incident hygiene.
* Operational excellence: Document procedures, improve monitoring, optimise costs, and report on service levels.
What you'll lead
* Team build‑out: Grow and coach a high‑performing operations team (0-10)
* Vendor & budget stewardship: Own contracts, renewals, and run‑rate; drive value and performance with suppliers.
* Roadmap delivery: Guide infrastructure refreshes, platform uplift, and cloud telephony adoption.
The environment you'll own
* Data centres & network: Primary/secondary DC; Sophos firewalls; Dell servers and EUC.
* Cyber tooling:, Zscaler, CrowdStrike.
* Microsoft stack: Windows Server 2019, Office RDS, M365 Apps.

What you'll bring
* Proven IT operations leadership with a willingness to be hands‑on.
* Depth in IAM/user admin, Windows Server, networks, and endpoint management.
* Practical experience with security tooling (EDR, ZTNA, vulnerability mgmt).
* Vendor management, budgeting, and roadmap delivery experience.
* A coaching mindset and the ability to lift processes, documentation, and metrics.
