Business Development Manager, Freight and Logistics
Are you a seasoned Business Development Manager ready to make a significant impact on Australia's freight industry? We're looking for an experienced and driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to help drive the commercial success of Australia's largest intermodal freight terminal, located in Melbourne’s north.
This high-impact, customer-facing role involves developing and managing commercial relationships with key clients in the rail, logistics, and freight-forwarding sectors. You'll play a critical part in growing revenue, onboarding new customers, and ensuring long-term contractual success.
This is a unique opportunity to help define and grow a new era of sustainable freight in Australia. The company has a strong environmental mission to shift freight from road to rail and is aligned with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.
Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and manage key customer relationships across the freight, logistics, and rail sectors.
- Lead commercial negotiations and manage contract execution for new and existing clients.
- Collaborate with terminal operations and leadership teams to ensure positive customer outcomes.
- Deliver revenue and volume growth in alignment with strategic plans.
- Help define the long-term customer experience and commercial model.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in business development, commercial sales, or client management within freight, rail, logistics, or infrastructure.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to negotiate long-term contracts.
- Demonstrated success in securing and growing large accounts in B2B logistics or transport environments.
- Ability to engage confidently with senior industry decision-makers.
- Understanding of freight forwarding, terminal operations, or intermodal networks is a plus.
- Enjoy working autonomously and building things from the ground up.
