As we continue to deliver & evolve, we are looking for an experienced HSE Advisor to join our team.

About the role
The HSE Advisor is responsible for providing advice and support to the Project to maintain a safe and healthy workplace and for adherence to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards for the workplace. If adequate laws or policies don’t exist, ensuring practices adopted reflect a commitment to the highest standard in WH&S and environment. The role is also responsible for driving improvements in HSSE performance through alignment and delivery of UGL HSSE programs, and identification and management of HSSE risks within the business.
You will
1. Act as a professional adviser to all staff in all matters concerning the prevention of accidents and occupational disease or injury and protection of the environment
2. Co-ordinate investigation of all accidents, incidents and defined near misses to ensure corrective actions address the “root cause” and ensure implementation of these actions
3. Actively implement, review, and improve the Corporate HSSE management system
4. Develop, promote, and implement a safe culture and programs for the business
5. Monitor and interpret relevant HSSE legislation, policies, and regulations to provide direction and advice to projects which meet statutory and corporate objectives and responsibilities
6. Assess safety in design requirements for all major projects
7. Ensure that the Company’s HSSE objectives and goals are set and attained, developing HSSE KPIs for the Business
8. Undertake any adhoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Operations Manager
9. Prepare and review project HSSE documentation to ensure a coordinated approach and legislative and procedural requirements are met.
10. Liaise with customers, external regulatory bodies, state organisation’s responsible for workplace safety and ensure compliance and compatibility with their systems and processes
11. Manage the implementation of return-to-work programs and procedures to ensure that all injuries are managed according to Company and Legislative requirements
12. Undertake all responsibilities in a safe manner
13. Ensure a safe working condition is present for all employees, contractors, and visitors
14. Participate in daily pre-start meetings
Essential
15. Diploma qualified in an Occupational Safety and Health related discipline
16. Minimum Six years’ experience in Safety, Health and Environmental Management in Construction/Infrastructure industry
17. Excellent knowledge of the OH&S, Environment and Workers Compensation legislation
18. Demonstrated capability to develop and implement safety management systems
19. Thorough knowledge of AS 4801, ISO 9001/14001, ISO31000
20. Incident Investigation trained to a senior level or equivalent
21. Internal Auditor and preferably External Audit trained
22. Cert IV Training and Assessment
23. Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, email
