Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to join the team based in Emerald. The role involves coordinating investigations, assessments, and compliance matters, working closely with the Coordinator Development & Planning, and undertaking field work for inspections and compliance activities.
Core Responsibilities
• Coordinate investigations and assessments of compliance matters.
• Undertake field inspections and compliance activities.
• Prepare documentation and act as a witness for enforcement actions.
• Prepare reports, work logs, and documentation for legal proceedings.
• Develop, implement, monitor policies and guidelines to achieve corporate goals.
• Manage service delivery with a customer service-focused culture.
• Conduct investigations and inspections as required.
• Identify and implement unit goals and strategies to achieve objectives.
• Handle multiple competing priorities with high-level time management.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree qualification in Building, Compliance, Urban and Regional Planning or a relevant discipline.
Pool Safety Certificate (or ability to obtain).
General Construction Induction Card (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
Minimum of Queensland C class provisional driver's licence.
Demonstrated experience in enforcing provisions of planning scheme, and relevant planning, plumbing, and building legislation.
Significant experience in coordinating and investigating compliance matters for local government.
Experience preparing documentation and acting as a witness for enforcement action in courts.
Experience preparing reports and work logs for legal proceedings.
Experience conducting investigations and inspections.
High-level experience managing policies, practices and guidelines.
Experience with developing unit goals and strategies to achieve them.
Management of service delivery ensuring a customer service-focused culture aligned with Council values.
High-level time management whilst handling multiple sensitivities.
