Flood Warning Network Database Administrator (FWIN)
Pay range: A$94,******/yr – A$105,******/yr (Bureau of Meteorology provided). Actual pay will be based on skills and experience.
Position Type: Full-time, Non-ongoing – 3 years.
Location: All Bureau office locations considered.
Position Overview
The Bureau's Flood Warning Infrastructure Network (FWIN) Program is leading a $230 million Australian Government initiative to improve flood warning infrastructure in Australia's highest flood risk areas over 10 years. This will be done through the acquisition, upgrade and integration of existing local government-owned, and some state government-owned rain and river level flood gauges into the Bureau's flood warning network across Australia.
Responsibilities
Perform routine network monitoring and quality control.
Onboard and manage flood warning sites in the Australian Rain and River Observations (ARRO) Database.
Coordinate processes across the flood data value chain to support fit-for-purpose flood data and metadata for the FWIN program.
Investigate data quality issues and network outages, and assist in developing and reviewing procedures and systems to optimise flood data management services.
Liaise with technical experts from across the Bureau and partner organisations on matters pertaining to efficient and timely data management.
