Mount Pritchard Public School has 375 students with 80% from different cultural backgrounds, with most speaking languages other than English. Key skills for this role include leadership, teaching students with special needs, team building, and being respectful of different cultures. This is a teaching role and you will teach one of three special education classes (either IO/AU or IO/IS) and supervise the other two classes. 
Mount Pritchard Public School has developed positive support programs such as Parent English classes, which have strengthened connections with the community. Communication has been enhanced through online platforms including Facebook and School bytes. The school has provided students with opportunities to excel in all areas including creative arts opportunities, public speaking, debating and various sporting activities. Students are provided with many leadership opportunities supported by dedicated staff preparing our young learners to connect, succeed and thrive. 
General Selection Criteria 
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy 
Specific Selection Criteria 
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with a diverse range of complex needs including autism, intellectual disabilities, trauma and mental health concerns. 
- Ability to differentiate curriculum and implement individual learning programs and willingness to adapt to students’ individual needs and whole school practices. 
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills which promote collaboration with staff and positive partnerships with families, community, support agencies, and students. 
- Demonstrated ability to implement wellbeing initiatives that maintain and enhance a positive, supportive and inclusive classroom/school culture and cater to the diverse needs of students within the school community.
