About the Role
The Activities/Leisure Co-ordinator plays a key role in designing, coordinating, and delivering leisure and lifestyle programs that are culturally meaningful, inclusive, and engaging for Elders—particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. The role focuses on promoting physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing through activities that reflect culture, family, and community connections. Working collaboratively with Elders, families, and the care team, you’ll help create a supportive setting where Elders feel valued, respected, and empowered to maintain their identity, independence, and purpose through Men’s Business and other culturally guided programs.
About You – Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

Qualification in Lifestyle and Leisure or willingness to obtain
And/or qualification in Aged Care
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and experience facilitating Men’s Business in a culturally appropriate and respectful way
- Proven ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate recreational and rehabilitative programs for older adults, particularly within Aboriginal communities
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and appropriately for Elders’ needs
- Empathetic and mature approach with the ability to engage and build rapport with older peopleDemonstrated teamwork, initiative, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Commitment to confidentiality and to working within the culture of the Rumbalara Elders Facility
Desirable: additional training or experience in dementia care, art, music, or other relevant fields of diversional therapy; experience in aged care, safety, and quality system
What We Offer
Competitive pay and conditions based on the Aged Care Award – Direct Care level 2 -5 (based on experience and qualifications).
Salary packaging of $15,900 available for Part- or Full-time employees.
