Senior System Analyst (Payments and Cards)

As a Senior System Analyst, Payments & Cards within Technology & Transformation, you will play a pivotal role that maintains and operates payment gateway infrastructure for Australia's leading mutual bank. The role is responsible for providing technical guidance in the selection, design, deployment, development, maintenance, support, and improvement of member‐centric platforms for the Payments & Cards team.

This position holds the delegated responsibility and accountability for delivering exceptional banking services, products, and applications directly used by customers or employees to support members. You will collaborate closely with cross‐functional teams to ensure the successful execution of solutions, aligning them with business objectives, ensuring reliability, scalability, and an outstanding user experience.

This role is offered as 12 months Fixed Term Contract with potential extension or permanency.

Responsibilities

System Analyst: Provide expert technical guidance to the Payments & Cards team on operational activities including incidents, problem resolution and integration projects.

Integration: Collaborate with architects and other stakeholders to oversee the design of scalable, reliable, and secure Payments & Cards solutions that meet business requirements, strategic goals, and security and compliance requirements.

Change Management: Lead and oversee changes into production, ensuring that development, design, testing, and verification adhere to strict ITIL standards and maintain strong Secure Stable & Resilient (SSR) standards, minimising impacts to members and staff.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross‐functional teams, including product owners, delivery leads and analysts, to ensure effective collaboration and seamless integration of Payment & Cards platforms with other systems and applications.

Agile Methodology: Drive the adoption of agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and promote continuous improvement within the team.

Technical Mentoring: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering their technical growth and promoting knowledge sharing within the team.

Technical Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, technical standards and guidelines, support documentation and system documentation, to ensure clarity and maintainability of member platform solutions.

Performance Optimisation: Identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement within Payments & Cards platforms, collaborating with the team to implement optimisation strategies.

Quality Assurance: Collaborate to define testing strategies, perform solution reviews, and ensure the delivery of high‐quality Payments & Cards solutions.

About you

You have strong expertise in successful delivery and support of payment infrastructure that is usable, stable, secure, compliant, and aligned to business objectives. The Senior System Analyst, Payments & Cards will achieve this by providing strong technical guidance and mentorship to the team, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.

Knowledge and Experience Essential Technical Acumen
* Extensive financial services and IT operations experience.
* Expertise in credit cards, tokenisation, switch management (Authentic & Postillion), ATMs, Visa, Eftpos & IPEX.
* Expertise with payments – NPP, PayTo, Direct Entry & BPAY.
* Experience with real‐time fraud management platforms.
* Experience with solution design, software development and integration projects.
* Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and tools such as Scrum and Jira.
* Prior experience designing, delivering and/or maintaining complex technical solutions and the ability and experience of identifying and resolving complex technical issues.
* Documentation and written communication skills.
* Technical familiarity with current and/or future‐state (preferred) systems is beneficial.
* Knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud platform services.
* Network and programming skills (Java, Universe, C#).
* Familiarity with SQL management studio and building queries.
* Familiarity with multiple delivery methodologies and the ability to adapt to the selected project methodology.
