About the Role
The Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at Western Health provides services for more than 30,000 surgical procedures and over 5,500 deliveries annually. It covers all surgical specialties except Cardiac and runs a busy acute and chronic pain service, teaching programs, and is involved in research and audits.
The department employs 36 registrars rotating through various programs and schemes. There are eight advanced anaesthetic registrar positions available, with some rotations potentially including Monash Health for cardiac and neuroanaesthesia experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform duties related to anaesthesia, pain management, and critical care.
- Provide quality peri-operative care under supervision, including preoperative assessment, peri-operative planning, anaesthesia, intra and postoperative care, and pain management.
- Manage patients clinically and attend ward rounds.
Candidate Requirements
- Hold a MBBS or equivalent qualification.
- Have current medical registration with AHPRA or be able to obtain it before starting.
- Have completed at least two years of anaesthetic training.
