Ember Byron Bay is a premium fine dining steakhouse in the heart of Byron Bay. As a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike, we pride ourselves on the high quality food and beverages we offer whilst delivering exceptional customer service.
Prepares, seasons and cooks food in a dining or catering establishment.
· Inspects and selects ingredients for cooking
· Measures, cleans, chops, blends, seasons, heats and cools food
· Monitors food cooking processes to ensure proper cooking and presentation
· Coordinates, supervises and collaborates with kitchen staff in food preparation and cooking
· Cleans and maintains kitchen equipment and utensils
· Monitors and maintains inventory of food supplies and equipment
· Assists in the development of new recipes and menu items
· Minimum 2 years’ experience
· Food Preparation Skills: High level of quality & ability to understand amount required
· Knife Skills: High level of knife skills & what knife to use & when
· Basic Cooking Skills: Knowledge of cooking methods & when to apply
· Recipe following: able to read, train & replicate all dishes
· Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
· Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
· Preparing and cooking food
· Seasoning food during cooking
· Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
· Storing food in temperature controlled facilities
· Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
· May plan menus and estimate food requirements
· May train other kitchen staff and apprentices
· Complying with WHS systems & legislation
· Comply with Ember’s policies and procedures.
· Ensure role is carried out in line with safe work practices.

Qualifications
Require Certificate 3 in hospitality
Basic food handling certificate
