About the Role


This role is responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership and coordination of people operations across the organisation. It covers the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, remuneration processes, workplace compliance, employee relations, capability development, and inclusion‑focused initiatives.

Working closely with senior leaders, the role ensures people practices are practical, compliant, and aligned with business priorities. The position also plays a key advisory role, supporting leaders through complex and sensitive people matters.

This is a maximum‑term opportunity of 18 months, created to provide continuity during a period of planned leave.

The role suits a proactive HR generalist who enjoys hands‑on delivery, balancing operational detail with trusted advice to leaders.

What You'll Be Responsible For



People Leadership

* Lead and support a small People & Culture function, including direct supervision of one team member.


Talent & Hiring

* Shape and deliver hiring approaches that meet evolving workforce needs.
* Manage recruitment activity from role scoping through to onboarding.
* Work closely with leaders to plan and prioritise resourcing.
* Maintain candidate pipelines for repeat or high‑demand roles.
* Coordinate with external recruitment partners where required.


Payroll & HR Systems

* Maintain accurate employee records and oversee data quality across people systems.
* Coordinate payroll activities, including employee lifecycle changes.
* Act as the key contact for HR and payroll system queries and reporting.
* Support internal and external audits.
* Oversee employee expense and corporate card administration.
* Ensure payroll activities align with legislative and taxation requirements.


Workplace Compliance

* Monitor and apply Australian employment legislation and industrial instruments.
* Update employment documentation, policies, and procedures as required.
* Manage contracts, variations, and workplace agreements.
* Coordinate compliance reviews and reporting.
* Support workplace health and safety obligations in collaboration with internal stakeholders.


Employee & Leader Support

* Promote a respectful and constructive workplace culture.
* Provide practical guidance to leaders on performance, conduct, and engagement.
* Manage employee matters including grievances, consultations, investigations, and organisational change.
* Support role changes and restructures in line with legal requirements.
* Manage external employee support services.
* Contribute to initiatives that enhance employee experience and engagement.


Capability & Development

* Deliver learning initiatives aligned to organisational needs.
* Oversee learning platforms and internal training content.
* Identify development priorities and support skill uplift.
* Coordinate performance and development review processes.
* Support internal mobility and career progression.
* Manage early‑career and work‑experience initiatives.


Inclusion & Fair Practice

* Contribute to initiatives that promote inclusion and equitable access to opportunity.
* Partner with internal groups to deliver awareness and engagement activities.
* Support fair employment practices across all stages of the employee lifecycle.
* Assist initiatives aimed at improving workforce diversity, including leadership pathways.

What You'll Bring

* Formal qualification in HR, business, or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated experience in a senior or standalone HR role.
* Solid understanding of Australian employment legislation.
* Practical experience across recruitment, employee relations, and organisational change.
* Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders.
* Organised, pragmatic, and solutions‑focused approach.
* Commitment to fair, inclusive, and compliant people practices.
* Payroll exposure is beneficial but not essential.
