Job Title - Cancer Care Navigator

Location: Mildura

Employment Type: Fixed term until 31st August 2027 | Part time- 22.8 hours

Salary: $37-$38 per hour+ super+ salary packaging

Role Overview

The Cancer Care Navigator plays a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through their cancer journey by providing practical, cultural, and psychosocial support to individuals, families and helping them navigate complex health and community support systems.

This is an identified Aboriginal position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (Equal Opportunity Act 2010 Vic).

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external cancer services to enhance cultural safety, improve access to care, and support better health outcomes across the cancer care continuum.
  • Act as a key point of contact between patients, families, and health care providers to identify and address barriers to cancer care such as cultural safety, transport, financial or emotional needs.
  • Coordinate client appointments and referrals and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide culturally appropriate education about cancer, treatment options, and care pathways.
  • Liaise with clinical and non‐clinical stakeholders to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
  • Support cancer screening awareness activities, community events, and health promotion initiatives.
  • Assist the Cancer Care Health Promotion Officer with campaigns, partnerships, and community engagement.

Skills, Knowledge And Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a cancer care, health services or client support environment.
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship‐building skills.
  • Aboriginal Health Worker/Practitioner qualification or willingness to obtain one.

Other Requirements

  • Current Driver's License.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current National Police Check.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
