Further modest growth is anticipated over the coming period. Working in the Hub presents a unique opportunity to be involved in a dynamic service delivery environment.The Hub’s payroll service delivery is structured by teams – with each team servicing a number of client agencies. The Payroll Triage Team is responsible for the initial assessment and management of payroll-related requests. By prioritising, classifying and escalating tasks efficiently, the team ensures that payroll services delivery teams can focus on accurate and timely processing.The opportunityThis is an exciting opportunity in the Payroll Triage Team for individuals seeking an entry point into the payroll profession. The role offers hands-on experience in resolving payroll queries and gaining a strong understanding of payroll processes. It supports the development of key skills such as problem-solving, attention to detail, and customer service. Additionally, it provides valuable exposure to payroll regulations and systems, laying a solid foundation for long-term career growth in the field.Our ideal candidateOur Ideal Candidateis enthusiastic, eager to learn, and has a keen interest in developing a career in payroll and customer service.will possess strong attention to detail, good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.While prior experience is not essential, a customer-focused mindset and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are key.A basic understanding of administrative processes or payroll concepts is advantageous but not required, as full training will be provided. The ability to learn and use IT systems including ServiceNow, Aurion and Microsoft Office underpin these positions. What you will doAs a Payroll Triage Officer, You WillAccess and prioritise incoming payroll requests based on urgency and complexity.Ensure timely and accurate resolution of routine payroll enquiries and issues.Classify and direct more complex requests to the appropriate payroll team for action.Understand and apply relevant APS legislation and terms and conditions including Enterprise Agreement policy and procedures.Provide clear and accurate verbal and/or written advice to stakeholders within appropriate timeframes in response to relevant inquiries .Maintain data in the Aurion payroll system and other platforms as required, in adherence with the Department’s record management and privacy policies.Collaborate effectively with colleagues across payroll and related teams to support shared goals and ensure a high standard of customer service is maintained.Participate and contribute to the continuous improvement of the payroll triage team processes and practices.EligibilityTo be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.Positions require a Baseline security clearance, and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.NotesA merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles.
