WorkPac are seeking a skilled Leading Hand to work in the Capel area for our client.
Our client is the local government area in the South West region of Western Australia, taking in the land between the cities of Bunbury and Busselton about 200 kilometres south of the state capital, Perth.
What You Will Be Doing
The Leading Hand Works supports the Works Coordinator in the delivery of civil construction and maintenance activities. This role ensures maintenance programs are completed efficiently, effectively, and to the required standards.
The Leading Hand Works is responsible for providing effective leadership and guidance to the team in accordance with policies and under the direction of the Works Coordinator. This includes planning and communicating daily work schedules, delegating tasks, and monitoring team performance. The role involves overseeing task completion, delivering on-the-job training, identifying team development needs, and conducting performance appraisals with input from the Coordinator.
This position manages timesheets and leave approvals for direct reports and may be required to relieve the Works Coordinator when necessary. The Leading Hand also assists with contract management by monitoring the quality of work, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining operational efficiency. In coordination with the Works Coordinator, the role involves organising machinery servicing and ordering spare parts.
Maintaining quality control across all civil works is essential to ensure they meet the required standards. The Leading Hand also supports the broader Engineering and Works team by assisting in other operational areas when required, offering backup and relief, and providing specialist advice as needed. The position includes any other duties as determined appropriate within the scope of the role.
What You Need
* Supervisor & Leading Hand Civil Experience.
* Basic Computer Skills
* Chainsaw Licence (Desirable).
* Basic Worksite Traffic Management
