We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Glazier to join our growing team.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in glass cutting and processing, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to high workmanship standards.
The Glazier is responsible for carrying out precision glass measurement, cutting, CNC processing and finishing, while ensuring strict compliance with safety, quality and production requirements.
Key Duties
Determine the type, thickness and dimensions of glass required for each job based on work orders, drawings and customer specifications.
Measure, mark and lay glass over patterns, templates or jigs to ensure accuracy before cutting.
Examine glass sheets and identify any defective areas prior to processing.
Cut glass by following patterns and templates, and break off excess material using appropriate tools such as glass pliers and notched tools.
Operate CNC machines and related CAM software to cut, polish and process glass components, ensuring precise and efficient production.
Read and interpret production sheets and labels for required processing steps (e.g., polishing cut-outs, drilling holes, edge finishing).
Double-check and verify all dimensions before and after processing to maintain accuracy and quality control.
Smooth and finish rough edges using belt sanders, smoothing wheels or relevant polishing machinery.
Safely classify, label and organise processed glass products, arranging them by job, date or section and transferring them to the next stage of production.
Ensure all glass products in the CNC and processing areas are stored safely and in compliance with company safety protocols.
Perform routine machine checks, replace CNC water as required, and maintain cleanliness of the CNC and processing sections according to maintenance guidelines.
Monitor stock levels of CNC machine consumables and spare parts (e.g., CNC cutters), promptly reporting shortages to the Production Manager to support continuous operations.
Conduct end-of-day safety checks and ensure all machines and equipment are powered off before leaving the work area.
Perform other ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Production Manager.
Strictly comply with all company safety procedures, work policies and quality standards.
Requirements
AQF Certificate III, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV, or at least three years of relevant work experience to substitute for formal qualifications.
Strong knowledge of glass safety standards.
Ability to read drawings, measurements and job specifications.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good physical fitness for manual handling tasks.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
