Airborne Solutions Australia provides aerial surveillance services under contract to the Australian Border Force as the largest civil maritime surveillance operation of its kind in the world, and a search-and-rescue capability across nearly 10 percent of the earth's surface under Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer who is looking to take their career to the next level by being directly responsible for the development, integration, and maintenance of advanced mission systems.
This unique opportunity allows you to join our team as a Mission Systems Technician and be involved in the design, build, and testing of future aircraft mission systems and associated ground stations under the guidance of experienced Mission Systems Engineers and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers/Technicians (AME).
You will work as part of the Airborne Solutions Technical Development business unit, providing technical support, ongoing maintenance, and development of the mission systems on board various aircraft. Key responsibilities include:
* Holding safety as a core value and contributing to a zero-harm environment through active participation in relevant safety programs.
* Working with a team of experienced professionals to guide maintenance, development, and troubleshooting of mission systems.
* Carrying out 'on-wing' maintenance tasks, modifications, and updates to the mission systems.
* Conducting component hardware testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting activities in a laboratory environment.
* Providing support to remote bases where mission systems may be deployed.
* Maintaining airborne and ground-based mission systems, monitoring their performance, and evaluating their effectiveness.
* Liaising with external sub-contractors for development and support of mission systems.
* Maintaining the System Integration Laboratory, test racks, and associated equipment.
* Offering technical advice and support to other departments for improvements to documentation and processes.
About You:
* Cert IV or Diploma in Aeroskills - Avionics.
* 2 years of experience in aircraft/avionics maintenance and troubleshooting.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
* Able to occasionally work away from home for short periods.
The position requires Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a baseline AGSVA security clearance and an Australian Border Force clearance.
Desirable experience and/or willingness to learn:
* Military aircraft avionics systems.
* Confidence with tool/hand skills.
* FLIR or WESCAM.
* Aircraft radio and communications.
* Systematic approach to problem-solving.
* CISCO and/or Fortigate networking.
* Computer system design and administration.
