The Role: Civil Project Engineer – 5-10 Years of Experience Location: Newcastle Contract: 12-Month Contract (Hourly Rate) Start Date: Immediate An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil Project Engineer to join a growing team on a 12-month contract basis. This role will see you leading civil projects within port infrastructure, including wharfs, jetties, hardstands (earthworks, concrete, asphalt), buildings, and foundations. If you have a solid background in scoping, estimating, and managing civil projects, and enjoy working in a collaborative, stakeholder-driven environment, this role is for you! Our Client is an award-winning national and international tier 1 consultancy. This opportunity is just the start of a long line of upcoming projects within this area, with the successful candidate being in a position to lead the next phase of work off the back off a successful delivery of initial scope of work. Key Responsibilities: Scope and Design Civil Projects: Develop comprehensive scopes of work for port infrastructure projects (wharfs, jetties, hardstands, buildings, foundations, etc.). Project Estimation: Prepare accurate project estimates for Capital Expenditure approval, ensuring all aspects of the project are covered. Tender Documentation: Develop clear and detailed Scope of Works and tender documentation, ensuring consistency and clarity. Tender Management: Lead the tendering process, manage bids, and oversee contract awards. Project Management: Oversee project delivery, from planning through to execution, ensuring all project milestones are met. Construction Supervision: Supervise and observe construction activities on site, ensuring quality standards, safety, and compliance with regulations. Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including councils, consultants, subcontractors, and environmental consultants. Experience & Skills Required: 5-10 years of civil engineering experience with a focus on port infrastructure, including wharfs, jetties, hardstands, buildings, and foundations. Experience in scoping, estimating, and managing capital expenditure for port-related civil projects. Proven ability to develop scope of works, tender documentation, and manage the tendering process. Experience with construction supervision and project management in civil infrastructure projects. Strong experience in stakeholder engagement, particularly with councils, consultants, and subcontractors. Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
