The work area
The Procurement Policy and Strategy business unit is responsible for a whole of government approach to procurement policy including administration of the Procurement Act, procurement systems and intelligence as well as whole of government common use arrangements and assurance functions that efficiently meet the business needs of government agencies, manage risks and deliver value for money.
The Department of Treasury and Finance currently operates under two sets of organisational values, following its formation on 1 July 2025. The values of clarity, empathy, growth and collaboration continue to guide everything we do in Procurement Policy and Strategy. In time, as we settle in our new structure and culture, we will collaboratively develop a unified set of values that represent who we are as the Department of Treasury and Finance.
The role
The position provides expert support and advice for all types of procurement; consults with government agencies, industry, and the community, and maintains positive and effective stakeholder relationships. This position also works closely with internal and external stakeholders to promote compliance with the Department's standards, processes, and procedures.
The role is part of the Commissioning Services Team that is assisting agencies with the implementing the State Commissioning Strategy which is focused on improved delivery of community services in WA. This includes:
* Improving and increasing contracting with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs)
* Analysing agency Commissioning Plan (ACP) data to identify opportunities for integrated service delivery, trials and pilots of place-based services.
* Supporting cross sector organisational change to facilitate commissioning.
* Building and enhancing commissioning skills and capability across government agencies and the communities services sector.
The position operates in Personal Leadership context. This means that you are required to demonstrate personal accountability for delivering excellence and support your team and agency in delivering strategic goals. You will be expected to build and nurture relationships and be willing to seek feedback and learn.
The ideal candidate
You will be a resilient, highly motivated individual, who can work in a team with minimal supervision and have an interest in improving the lives of vulnerable people and achieving outcomes for the benefit of the WA Community. You will have well developed relationship and stakeholder management skills in conjunction with the Department's values.
In this position, you may be required to operate across various office locations throughout the Perth–Fremantle region.
