About the role
We are offering a permanent part‐time role of Counsellor in the team at our headspace Bunbury office. The current vacancy is 3 days per week.
The Counsellor provides clinical support to young people aged 12–25 and their families through individual and group sessions. This role focuses on delivering high‐quality, youth‐centred care, including conducting psychosocial and risk assessments, and supporting young people to access appropriate services.
Key responsibilities
* Deliver counselling services to young people and their families in both individual and group settings.
* Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments, and develop appropriate care plans.
* Provide brief interventions and immediate support for young people presenting to the centre.
* Assist young people to connect with relevant services within the centre and facilitate referrals to external services when required.
* Support young people in accessing external services, including assistance with engagement where necessary.
* Collaborate with the Clinical Coordinator to ensure coordinated and effective care.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including GPs, psychologists, social workers, allied health professionals, and support staff.
* Build strong partnerships with local community organisations and youth and health services to deliver integrated, holistic care.
Qualifications and Registrations
* Approved tertiary level qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or a relevant field with general registration with AHPRA or AASW.
* Post‐graduate qualifications in an area related to youth mental health.
Experience
* Clinical skills in engaging young people aged 12 to 25 who have mental health, alcohol and other drug problems and their families/carers.
* Ability to relate to and engage with health professionals and to work as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as independently.

* Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge, skill and experience involving young people in their own care.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
* The ability to work with culturally diverse and marginalised young people and their families.
* A broad understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people in Australia, including specific community factors.
* Ability to relate to and work effectively with young people.
* High levels of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion.
* Positive, collaborative, adaptable team member.
* Responsibility for own actions, constructive feedback and advice.
* Effective stress management and seeking appropriate support.

Salary and Benefits
* Salary $88,901 per annum pro rata plus superannuation.
* Non‐profit salary packaging up to $18,550.
* Additional annual leave at year‐end up to three days.
