As our Pharmacist, you will:
Key Responsibilities
* Assessing prescriptions by reviewing patient medication histories to ensure appropriate dosage, safe administration routes, and compatibility of prescribed medicines prior to dispensing
* Compounding, or overseeing the compounding and accurate labelling, of pharmaceutical products including liquids, creams, powders, tablets, and other prescribed medications
* Providing professional guidance to medical practitioners regarding potential drug interactions, contraindications, and therapeutic suitability
* Monitoring and evaluating individual patient medication regimens to determine treatment effectiveness and optimise overall therapeutic outcomes
* Maintaining accurate prescription records, including the documentation and controlled management of narcotics, poisons, and restricted medicines
* Ensuring correct storage, handling, and preservation of vaccines, sera, and other temperature-sensitive or unstable pharmaceutical products
* Supplying over-the-counter medicines, medical devices, and diagnostic or therapeutic products in accordance with regulatory requirements
* Supervising, training, and coordinating the daily activities of Pharmacy Technicians, Intern Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Assistants
* Participating in research activities aimed at the development and enhancement of pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, and related chemical preparations
* Liaising with chemists, engineers, and other technical professionals regarding pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and formulation components
* Performing analytical testing and evaluation of pharmaceutical substances to verify identity, purity, potency, and compliance with established standards
* Contributing to the development and implementation of quality and safety standards for pharmaceutical products
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
* Current AHPRA registration and working with children / police checks as required.
* Demonstrated experience in dispensing, patient counselling, pharmacy operations.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a small / rural team.
* Flexibility, self-motivation, problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in rural or regional settings.
* Experience in clinical pharmacy or involvement in hospital settings.
* Leadership / supervisory experience.
* Additional certifications (e.g., immunisation, medication review).
