This includes overseeing and leading on the impact analysis and embedment of fraud and scams related regulatory changes and driving the coordination and execution of the fraud risk management second line function in Australia and New Zealand, across both retail and wholesale businesses.The role is responsible for ensuring that HSBC’s operations in Australia and New Zealand are effective in identifying, managing and mitigating fraud risks and ensuring appropriate review, challenge and advice is provided to the business. This role requires strong partnership with both businesses and the leadership team and is accountable for the implementation of appropriate fraud policies and mitigation measures. The role is responsible for staying at the forefront of emerging risks and trends and providing strong engagement and thought leadership into regulatory and industry changes.The Senior Manager Fraud Risk for Australia and New Zealand is a critical forward-thinking leadership role and is supported by two Fraud Risk Managers.Key Responsibilities:Acting as a role model for Financial Crime Fraud risk management, bringing thought leadership and appropriate review and challenge to the role to identify, mitigate and manage fraud risks.Supporting the lines of business to maintain an effective control framework and to ensure compliance with all relevant external laws & regulations, internal codes and policies, good market practices, and industry standards.Providing advisory services to the lines of business to ensure clear understanding of fraud risk exposure with respect to clients, transactions and products.Responsibility for second line governance of fraud risk exposures, providing analysis, reporting and oversight that is independent of the first line of defence, thereby maintaining an objective assessment of risk exposure.Exercising risk steward challenge, acting as an independent trusted advisor in governance forums, undertaking issue management and working closely with risk owners and control owners.Ensuring appropriate escalation of issues and working collaboratively within the first and second line of defence to ensure emerging and identified risks are addressed appropriately, and in a timely manner.Staying at the forefront of emerging risks and trends and providing strong engagement and thought leadership into regulatory and industry changes.Supporting strategic projects and change initiatives as part of the Australia and New Zealand Risk and Compliance strategy, as well as providing senior leadership support to the Head of Financial Crime Risk Stewardship, the Head of Financial Crime and the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer as required.
