Role
Description
The Counsellor will be responsible to the Principal through the Assistant Principal (Wellbeing), Assistant Principal(s) and the Wellbeing Team Leader. In addition, they will liaise with Sub School Leaders, Year Level Engagement Coordinators and Teaching Staff to assist with the Colleges’ response to the wellbeing needs of students and their families.
Responsibilities
1. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary Student Wellbeing Team;
2. Develop, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based support programs and projects which aim to support the identified health and wellbeing needs of young people at the College;
3. Provide direct one-on-one services to students including short-term counselling, case management, triage, risk assessment and crisis intervention;
4. Liaise with community service organisations, DFFH, tertiary level services, specialist programs and other professionals regarding the support needs for students and the College;
5. Provide professional advice in relation to issues involving student wellbeing, including helping to build student resilience and positive mental health;
6. Provision of Professional Development to staff on a range of student wellbeing issues;
7. Support data collection processes to evaluate and feedback on school-based wellbeing programs and strategies;
8. Maintenance of confidential case notes, records and statistical information in accordance with professional guidelines, ethical codes, health records, privacy legislation and school requirements; and
Other duties as directed by the Principal, Business Manager, Wellbeing Team Leader and/or Assistant Principal(s).
