Our client, Gregory J and Jana Whittaker, the well-reputed establishment for the art of pastry and bread making, is currently recruiting talented Bakers and Pastrycooks for positions at the Cooktown Bakery Cafe. Known for their mastery in creating Queensland's most delectable culinary creations, from pies to sourdough bread, pastries, and sandwiches, Cooktown Bakery Cafe presents an exciting opportunity for dedicated individuals to become part of their team.
These full-time roles come with a competitive salary ranging from 70K to 80K AUD per annum, with superannuation negotiable based on the qualifications and expertise of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities for these roles encompass a diverse array of tasks, including:
* Mix, prepare, weigh, and measure ingredients for the creation of baked goods.
* Decorate pastries with various icings, toppings, and finishes to ensure visually appealing and exciting presentations.
* Glaze buns and pastries, and expertly decorate cakes with cream and icing.
* Monitor stock levels of baking ingredients (e.g., flour, sugar) and place orders within budget, ensuring smooth operations.
* Contribute ideas for menu development, including involvement in creating seasonal pastry offerings.
* Inspect the quality of ingredients and the condition of cooking equipment and utensils.
* Adhere to food hygiene and safety standards at all times.
* Maintain a clean, sanitised, and organised kitchen environment.
* Ensure proper storage of all food items and supplies to maintain freshness and safety.
* Keep accurate records of production, inventory, and other relevant activities.
* Operate various kitchen equipment efficiently and safely.
* Identify staffing needs and assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring kitchen personnel.
* Maintain a hygienic and efficient work environment.
* Plan, prepare, and schedule production activities to meet operational needs.
Qualified candidates should meet the following criteria:
* Be open to relocating if currently based interstate or in another city.
* Be available to work weekends and flexible enough to handle split shifts.
* Preferably hold a certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or a related field.
* Be a qualified Pastrycook/Baker with 2-3 years of experience in the industry.
* Have the ability to work effectively within a team.
* Have excellent communication skills.
