About the role | Mō te tūranga:
We're seeking a motivated and eager individual to step into a Trainee role, or, if you're a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician, to join our Core Laboratory. This is a permanent, part-time position of 50 hours per fortnight, (late afternoon/evening shift) and a fantastic opportunity to gain experience, develop your skills, and contribute to vital laboratory operations.
In this role, you will support the daily operations of the laboratory by performing a range of essential tasks, including demonstrating strong attention to detail and organisational skills, and maintaining a commitment to high-quality service and laboratory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Barcoding, receipting, and preparing specimens as they arrive at the laboratory.
* Entering patient and test details accurately into the system.
* Answering telephones and handling enquiries professionally.
* Work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
* Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of accurate.
* Be willing to learn new skills and adapt to changing procedures.
* Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Maintain a friendly, customer-focused approach at all times.
* Show initiative and be self-sufficient in your day-to-day tasks.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
* A positive and friendly approach to your work.
* Compassion for others, including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances.
* Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.
* Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.
* Respect for always ensuring patient confidentiality and in all matters.
* Diploma in Applied Science, or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage, but not essential.
* A clean New Zealand Driver's Licence.
* Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
