The Systems Administrator is responsible for the overall technical management and maintenance of IT server and communications infrastructure and their supporting sub systems across MTTES production and test environments for both Classified and Unclassified networks.
This includes performing day to day operational and administrative tasks, monitoring system availability and capacity, incident management, problem diagnoses and resolution, while complying with change management procedures.
Systems Administrators provide leadership, technical expertise and complete assigned project tasks under the direction of the ICT Team Lead to help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, while achieving their stated objectives.
Key responsibilities
* Provide the technical operations for complex IT server and communication solutions that comply with Raytheon technical standards and security policies.
* Monitoring of systems including alert management, event logs, security logs, performance, availability and capacity planning.
* Managing system accounts, permissions and directory operations and ensure service delivery staff have the necessary up-to-date information for account administration activities.
* Provide the technical input into the development and maintenance of Disaster Recovery Plans & Business Continuity Plans for server and communication infrastructure, Assist in the practical implementation of these plans as required. Monitoring of backup systems, recovery of data, offsite storage services and archiving including secure offsite media management.
* Provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd level support for applications and systems including administration of Linux and Windows platforms and integration as part of the software development environments.
* Provide a high level of advice on diagnostics and fault resolution for hardware and structured cabling infrastructure that includes coordinating support with external partners and suppliers.
* Provide a high level of advice on information system security administration and participate in the development of plans to achieve and maintain Department of Defence classified computing accreditation and maintenance of classified operational environments.
* Maintain and continuously improve policy, procedures, guidelines and work instructions for systems. Establish and maintain knowledge base, recovery plans and change procedures.
* Participate as a member of the MTTES team to provide planned after-hours support for training and security incidents as required.
* Interstate Travel will be required throughout the year.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Possesses expert knowledge and experience with workstation, server and communication administration requirements and techniques.
* Possesses sound knowledge of virtualised infrastructure management and troubleshooting.
* Possesses sound knowledge of server and communication industry standards and technologies.
* Possesses sound knowledge of the systems engineering methodology.
* Possesses sound knowledge of the DoD Information Assurance accreditation framework.
* Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV2 Security clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva
