About the Role:
The Café/Retail Assistant contributes to the delivery of a profitable café, retail and customer service functions, ensuring that visitors receive quality takeaway, casual dining and retail services at the Adelaide Gaol, one of South Australia's significant heritage tourist attractions.
About the Gaol:
The Adelaide Gaol, one of South Australia’s oldest and most significant heritage buildings, first opened in 1841 and operated as a working prison for almost 150 years. Now more than 180 years old, it stands as a fascinating tourist attraction where visitors can step back in time, explore the preserved cell blocks, and learn about chilling ghost stories that have become part of its legend. Alongside its tours and events, the Gaol features a gift shop offering unique giftware giving visitors the chance to take home a piece of history.

Contract:
Contract for up to 12 Months
Special Conditions:
- The Café/Retail Assistant contributes to the delivery of a profitable café, retail and customer service functions, ensuring that visitors receive quality dining and retail services at Adelaide Gaol.
- May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
- Regular weekend and public holiday work is required as well as being available during peak seasonal times including school holidays.
- Wearing a company supplied uniform during working hours and/or when representing the department is mandatory.
- You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia.
- Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check.
- Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to provide a Department of Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. [DEW will cover the cost of renewal]
Remuneration:
GSE2 $35.65 min - $36.02 max per hour including a 25% leave loading in lieu of sick leave and annual leave.
